DOES COMPREHENSION IMPROVE WITH RapidReader's™ HIGHER SPEED?

The answer is that your comprehension will likely improve with the RapidReader™ method while you're enjoying multiplying your normal reading speed. Moving your eyes slowly across a page introduces all sorts of "confounding" elements. First of all there are the innate distractions that occur when you are thinking faster than you are capable of reading. Your mind wanders to all sorts of irrelevant thoughts. Secondly, research has shown that if you see and understand the meaning of the word then you comprehend it...and that can occur at up to 1600 wpm!

WILL I RETAIN WHAT I READ AT VERY HIGH SPEEDS?

Actually, that depends on the type of material you're reading and your own particular learning style. Research indicates that at 400-500 words per minute retention remains at about what it would be when reading a page of text slowly. When we read we actually stop occasionally to "rehearse" what we've been reading (eg. we look up from the page to absorb what we've read) the RapidReader™ method accomplishes this with a simple press of the space bar to pause the text. Speeds well over 500 wpm are easily obtained with familiar material such as e-mail, review of previously learned information etc.

WILL I LOSE WORDS IF I BLINK?

Very probably not. The blink of an eye takes 1/200 of a second, about the speed it takes for a hummingbird to flap it's wings once. At it's fastest the human mind can comprehend text at 1600 words per minute or one word every 1/26 of a second. That's approximately 10 times slower than an eyeblink. The most you would lose to a blink, even at the fastest possible display speed, would be about 1/10 of the time a word is on the screen.

WILL RAPIDREADER HELP ME READ PAPER DOCUMENTS FASTER?

A qualified yes. One of the principal things that slows down reading of all types is "sounding out" the words on the page. Practice with RapidReader could make you a "silent reader" and that can increase you're reading speed dramatically even with conventional text.

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO CHANGE DOCUMENTS INTO RapidReader™ FORMAT?

NOTHING. RapidReader™ automatically displays Microsoft Word or WordPerfect documents, RTF format , ASCII for plain text documents and of course HTML for the World Wide Web. All you have to do is choose the document and "drag and drop" it onto the RapidReader™ Icon on your desk top to begin reading. RapidReader™ performs the translation for you.
