Read Required Materials In A Fraction of the Time |
|
Problem..Too much to read, too little time.
RapidReader empowers you to read at many times your average computer
reading speed. Any text that is available to be read on a computer can
be read in RapidReader. Documents in MSWord, WordPerfect, ASCII,
RTF and of course the language of the web, HTML are all parsed natively
by RapidReader automatically. THERE IS NO FORMATTING, OR DOCUMENT
ENTRY TO DO.
To begin, you just launch RapidReader and then drag the document of
your choice onto the RR icon and it opens automatically. Using the "CRUISE
CONTROL" menu, you can vary the speed from 100 words per minute
to 1200 wpm, you can go back a line at a time if you want to re-read
and you can always press the spacebar to see the full text of what you
are reading.

"RapidRead" Information on the Internet.
|
|
Problem...Finding the information you need on the Internet.
The combination of RapidReader and the Central Internet Library is
a powerful resource for all your web surfing. RapidReader's new
WebRocket function allows you to use your normal browser to navigate
while WebRocket follows along in the background. When you find the text
you want to read simply pressing ALT+TAB brings WebRocket to the front
and you have all of RapidReader's power and features to read on
the Internet. You can even follow text links without ever leaving RapidReader
because WebRocket is actually a text browser that can take you across
the internet. When you're ready to return to Graphical navigation just
press ALT+TAB and your usual browser returns to the front.

HOW
TO DO IT |
Use "FIND" to Save Time
FIND+ENTER |
|
Problem... you need to find specific information but there are too
many hits on a search engine..or too many documents in a file.
To read or not to read? You can use the "FIND" function
as your own document search engine for focus, review or even deciding
the value of each document. If you want to know if a document is of
interest to you, you can use the "FIND" command to
search it for reference words you define. If the word(s) isn't in the
document then you know that your target information probably isn't in
the document, thereby saving you the time of reading it. This is particularly
helpful with web searches.
To use the "FIND" function in RapidReaderª, Press
the SPACEBAR to pause the text. Go to the menu bar and select "EDIT"
then "FIND". A window will appear asking you what word
or words you wish to locate. Type them in to the text line. Click on
the "Radio Button" to determine if you want to search "DOWN"
(forward) or "UP" ( previous material). If you locate the target
word, you can begin reading from that point on by using the "GO TO"
command which will allow you to read from that point by pressing "ENTER".
To go to the next reference use the "find again" command.

Create a desktop "E-MAIL" Folder for RapidReading
|
|
Problem...drowning in a sea of e-mail.
Since there are so many different e-mail programs RapidReaderª has
a generalized method to accommodate all of them. Simply download the
e-mail you wish to read and save it to a folder on your desktop. Then
drag and drop your e-mail onto the RapidReader icon like an "assembly

HOW
TO DO IT |
Create"INDEX CARDS" for Reports or Presentations
HIGHLITE + COPY + APPEND |
|
Problem..organizing research references by topic.
To organize a report or term paper use the HIGHLITE + COPY + APPEND
features to"categorize" types of information and save each category
to a different word processor page. As an example, letÕs say the report
is on the industrial forecast for Indonesia. To save steps in creating
the final report you can use RapidReaderª to efficiently organize your
information. 1.USING your word processor, create a series of documents
each with a TOPIC TITLE. These will be your "index cards". 2.Then as
you do your research you can highlite, copy and append all like references.
3.PASTE them into the appropriate "index card". For instance, all references
to the economics of the region from your research documents could be
pasted to one"index card" called"economic information". Another might
be"education" etc. .

Use RapidReader to "SPOT BUSINESS TRENDS"
SAVE WEB PAGE + FIND + HIGHLITE / COPY + APPEND |
|
Problem...Somewhere Hidden in the Information Noise is the Information
You Need.
In addition to the reading time it saves you, RapidReader can act
as a "filter" to seek out information that is meaningful for you in
the thousands of Internet web pages related to your interest. As an
example.... You need to decide what position to take on a company that
makes tennis socks. To do so you want to track the growth and movement
of tennis in general to gauge it's momentum. That information resides
in various publications of a variety of types most of which are now
online on their respective web sites. You also might want to know the
number of recent IPO's related to your interest. The problem is getting
the time to data mine all the material . Using RapidReader however,
you can monitor a large number of web pages without having to read the
ones that don't have the information you seek. You would do this by
using an automated software that downloads the sites you request to
your machine (there are several available) while you do other things
(sleep for instance). Once those sites are downloaded you can then quickly
decide which you want to investigate by using the RapidReader "FIND"
function. Open a web page, enter a "KEYWORD" or words for instance Tennis,
Racquets, Squash, Racquetball etc. then click "FIND". If none of the
words are found then you instantly know you probably don't need to read
the page. If there is a "hit", simply press "ENTER" and you can begin
reading FROM THAT REFERENCE POINT at RapidReader speeds.

|
Problem... keeping up with your competitors on-line marketing efforts
In addition to being able to RapidRead your competitors marketing materials
Use RapidReader's FIND and HIGHLITE features to track where
your competitors place the emphasis in their on line marketing. Go to
their web site and use RapidReader's "FIND" function to enter
a keyword that is a competitive factor. Scenario: You want to discover
how important a competitor considers its productsÕ intranet capability.
At their website, 1) Enter the keyword "INTRANET" in the"FIND" dialog
box and you will be taken to the first reference of the subject in their
material. 2) Selecting"FIND AGAIN" in the dialog box will take

entries to use in a marketing report or you can simply count the number
of references to the chosen keyword to gain an understanding of your
competitors focus and positioning. Problem..organizing research references
